Creating a Digital Portfolio for the Ipad!

I am so excited to be going to the SCBWI Winter Conference. Since I have never been to the national conference, I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed getting my portfolio updated along with my website and of course getting all of the promotional cards printed. (I love Moo!)

Once I got that done, I started thinking how neat it would be to have my work organized on my Ipad. After doing a little research, with only a few days before I leave, I jumped into it and just barely got it complete.
In case you are wanting to do this with your own work, I will walk you through what worked for me.

The App I chose was Foliobook because it looked easy to set up, and has a nice look and interface. The really cool thing was adding video. I didn’t have time to scan and place all the images in from my books, so integrated two videos instead. (You have to upgrade with a plugin for $1.99) And have some kind of video converter to make it readable on the Ipad.

It was a little tricky getting the videos into the correct folder so that Foliobook can see it. It must be in the PHOTOS folder, not with the videos on ITunes.

The instructions are simple and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this app for any illustrator or artist that wants a simple but elegant way to show your work of on the IPAD. I am sure there is more I could add, but I have to pack and get organized.

If any of you are headed to the NYC and the SCBWI conference, I hope to see you there. I am really looking forward to listening to the lineup of amazing speakers, and seeing tons of beautiful art for children’s books. It should be a wonderful learning experience.

  1. Thanks Joanne for the update on the website. I didn’t realize it had moved. Thanks everyone for the comments. I’ll post about the conference when I get back. Hoping the weather cooperates!
